The publication is being brought out once in every two years and covers a wide range of data on water resources and its related resources in the country. It comprises six chapters & two appendixes. Summary tables and charts have been included within the chapters to facilitate overview and better understanding. Chapter 1 presents introduction while Chapter 2 deals with key indicators of water resources including, inter-alia, water availability, creation of storages and ultimate irrigation potential. Chapter 3 deals with data on utilisation of water resources.

The Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas has been publishing its annual bulletin “Indian Petroleum & Natural Gas Statistics” since 1967 containing comprehensive information on the Oil & Gas Sector. The bulletin provides information in terms of both calendar year and financial year, to address the demands of the diverse users. It also includes a brief write-up on production performance of Petroleum & Natural Gas Sector during 2012-13.

The present state of the environment with regard to climate change is reflected in the condition of the atmosphere and hydrological system of the earth. The various initiatives taken by CSO since 1997 have led to collection, compilation and dissemination of Statistics related to Environment and a regular annual publication titled “Compendium of Environment Statistics” is brought out. As discussions on climate change took centre stage, it was decided to put together data sets related to climate change in accordance with the framework developed by CSO.
