US had made similar complaint against India in February

Two months after it was taken to the World Trade Organization by the US government on the renewable energy (RE) sector, the Indian government has done likewise. It has made a complaint to WTO’s dispute settlement body, alleging the US, both at the federal and state levels, is offering subsidy programmes in the sector for local content requirements, making the entry of Indian companies difficult and breaching global trading rules.

This is the draft guidelines for setting up of 750 MW Grid Solar PV power projects with Viability Gap Funding (VGF) under Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM), Phase-II, Batch-I.

Jaipur: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Wednesday reiterated that the Central government plans to increase the installed capacity of solar power by an additional 10,000 MW by 2017. Of this, 40% is likely to come from Rajasthan.

While speaking at the inauguration of the Fourth Clean Energy Ministerial in New Delhi, the PM said “A solar capacity of about 1,500 MW has already been installed in the country, and an additional 10,000 MW will be implemented by the end of the 12th Five Year Plan, ending in 2017”.

Voicing concern over "painfully slow" progress in climate talks, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Wednesday said the goal of stabilising global temperatures was "nowhere in sight" and called for individual countries to take action to increase energy efficiency.

While inaugurating the Fourth Clean Energy Ministerial, Singh also made it clear that rich nations, who were responsible for a bulk of greenhouse gas emissions, were best placed to provide workable solutions to mitigate climate change.

Plants in Villivakkam, Sholinganallur, Navalur to process nearly 240 million litres of sewage daily

Three more sewage treatment plants would come up across the city to treat sewage generated from the ever-expanding city. At present, Chennai has a capacity to treat a total of 558 million litres of sewage being generated daily in 11 units set up at six locations. Work is on to set up sewage treatment plants with a capacity to treat 228 mld in four more spots.

Firm has already set-up 5 Mw and 33 Mw projects under the tariff-based bidding as a part of National Solar Mission

Mahindra group's three-year-old foray into the solar power sector is in the midst of takeoff. The company says that it could set-up as much as 500 megawatts of solar power in the next 24-36 months. This opportunity however is not restricted just to the projects it had won during the national solar mission. It has already set-up a five megawatt power project, and yet another 33 megawatts power project, both under the tariff-based bidding as a part of National Solar Mission.

Despite the local procurement conditions stipulated for solar power projects that are set up under the National Solar Mission, 70 per cent of them have used imported modules or cells.
