The Tribunal had constituted a core committee to monitor the potential hazards of industrial development in Singrauli area and five sub-committees for quantification of industrial pollution and impact assessment of water, air, soil and health in and around Singrauli.

During the Conference of the Environment Ministers of States held in New Delhi during April 06-07,2015, it was resolved to adopt pollution potential criteria for categorization of Red, Orange & Green categories of industries and that a Committee be constituted with State representatives.

The present report on “Urban Slums in Delhi” is brought out by the Directorate of Economics & Statistics on the basis of sample survey conducted under the 69th NSS Round (July 2012- Dec 2012) in respect of state sample.

This recent study by Central Pollution Control Board highlights the water quality issues in 275 rivers comprising of 302 stretches in 27 states and 2 Union territories. The water data indicates that organic pollution as indicated by Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD) continues to be the major water quality issue.

Based on the information that about 150 CETPs had been established in the country, Planning Commission expressed to MoEF in March 2010 that of about 900 industrial clusters, only 1/6 of the effluent generated is treated.

Rapid industrialization is adversely impacting the environment globally. Pollution by inappropriate management of industrial wastewater is one of the major environmental problems in India as well, especially with burgeoning small scale industrial sector in the country.
