Milk in India is largely safe, even though quality issues persist, an interim report released by Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) said. The report of the National Milk Quality Survey, 2018, FSSAI said is by far the largest systematic study of milk, both in terms of sample size (6,432 samples) and number of parameters.

In continuation to the earlier order dated 25.07.2018, for imported organic food consignments, it has been decided to extend the period for the use of non-detachable sticker with respect of FSSAI's organic logo as required under regulation 5 (1) of Food Saftey and Standards (Organic Foods) Regulations, 2017, up to 31st December, 2018.

The FSSAI has notified these draft regulations in course to amend the principal regulations i.e.

In exercise of the power conferred under section 92 of the Food Safety ad Standards Act-2006, FSSAI had framed the draft Food Safety and Standards (Organic Food) Regulations, 2017 and the same were notified on 19th June, 2017 for inviting comments of stakeholders.

Food Safety and Standards Authority of India has notified Food Safety and Standards (Food Product Standards and Food Additives) Fourteenth Amendment Regulation, 2017 in the official gazette of India w.r.t oils and fats.

The FSSAI has notified the FSS (Prohibition and Restrictions on Sales) Amendment Regulations, 2017 regarding certain restriction on sale of cream ans FSS (Food products standards and food additives) Amendment Regulations, 2017 regarding revised standards for milk and milk products.
