The population of South Africa is estimated to be 60,6 million by the end of June 2022. Between 2002 and 2022 South Africa experienced a positive population growth year-on-year. A positive growth rate indicates that the population is increasing, despite the devastating impact of COVID-19 globally and within South Africa’s borders.

To date 44292 people have been tested largely in private laboratories. A total of 47541 tests have been completed, of which about 6000 were performed in the public National Health Laboratory Service.

Public transport confronts many challenges in South Africa. The majority of workers and the poor still live in displaced, dormitory townships distant from places of work and other amenities. As a result, the cost of mobility and time spent commuting between home and workplace is draining and difficult to sustain.

The Draft National Biodiversity Offset Policy has been published for public comment, the Department of Environmental Affairs said. The draft policy was published in Government Gazette 40733 (Notice No. 276), in terms of the National Environmental Management Act, 1998 (Act No. 107 of 1998) (NEMA).
