Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Nabam Tuki on Monday emphasised on chalking out mechanism to tap the massive potential of renewable energy in the state.

"Our hill locks, mountains and river banks has enormous potential for developing wind energy which if rightly harnessed can generate good revenue," Tuki said while delivering a speech here this morning on the occasion of Rajiv Gandhi Akshay Urja Diwas. He added that identifying certain places like Pasighat, Sela Pass in Tawang, Hawa Camp near Kimin as some potential areas where proposal for wind energy generation could be effectively worked out.

Itanagar: Arunachal Chief Minister Nabam Tuki has suggested the Environment and Forest Department to encourage livestock farming under eco-development scheme of Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority (CAMPA) to distract the people from illegal hunting practices.

“Such initiative can divert the attention of the people towards economic sustenance schemes rather going for illegal hunting,” Tuki justified while presiding over the third governing body meeting of state unit of CAMPA here today.

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Nabam Tuki called on the Union Minister of State for Environment and Forests, Jayanti Natarajan in New Delhi on Wednesday. The Chief Minister requested the Union Minister to expedite the pending forest clearance of the Tawang Basin Hydro Power Project of NHPC, stated a release.

The Chief Minister, in his meeting with Natarajan reiterated the fact that the DPR for the Tawang Project would go for cabinet clearance only after the forest clearance was given. He mentioned that NHPC was also planning to construct the tunnel from Sange to Jang, which was also getting delayed due to the pending clearance.

Itanagar: The National Mission on Bamboo Application (NMBA) has assured Arunachal Pradesh to provide fund for establishment of bamboo-based small scale industry in the State.

The assurance was given by NMBA Director in-charge and Mission Co-ordinator Ajay Kumar to newly appointed vice-chairman of Bamboo Development Board of Arunachal Pradesh, Yora Tagung in New Delhi on Tuesday, official sources informed here today.

Itanagar: Over a hundred people were affected by an undiagnosed disease at Pasighat town and its adjoining areas in East Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh since early this month.

The disease is like viral fever but no medicine available in the district to fight the symptoms have helped those ailing from it. Tako Dabi, political advisor to chief minister, who is also a victim of the disease said in a statement on Tuesday that the symptoms were neither that of malaria nor of typhoid which are prevalent in Arunachal Pradesh. This has drawn the attention of the state government for early solution to the problem.

Itanagar: The Arunachal Pradesh government has issued strict instruction to all the officers of forest department and wild-life divisions throughout the State for protection of forest, wildlife and bio-diversity.

The instruction was issued by the Chief Minister Nabam Tuki while considering the plea of Fringe Peoples Forum-WL (FPF-WF) of East Siang district for stringent measures to save forest and wildlife recently, official sources informed on Wednesday.

State gets high praise from Planning Commission on exceptional performance

As projected by the State Government, the Planning Commission has approved the Annual Plan Size 2012-13 for Arunachal Pradesh at Rs 3,535.00 crores. This was finalized at the meeting held between Deputy Chairman Planning Commission Montek Singh Ahluwalia and the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh Nabam Tuki at the Planning Commission on Wednesday. The meeting was also attended by Union Minister of State for Planning Ashwani Kumar and other members of the Planning Commission.

Itanagar: The ongoing Halaipani mini hydroelectric project in Anjaw district of Arunachal Pradesh, incurred heavy losses due to unprecedented flash floods from June 20 to 26 last, causing immense difficulties to the people of the region, the DC informed in a report on Friday.

The construction of the project was almost complete when disaster struck the project. The construction work at the power house site was also in progress, but the unprecedented flood washed away huge quantity of construction materials and T&P equipments, besides causing irreparable damages to the construction site by depositing huge boulder and sand gravels.

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Finance, Planning & PWD Minister Chowna Mein and MLA-cum-Parliamentary Secretary of Assam Bolin Chetia assured the flood affected people along the inter-State border to take up the issue of flood with NEC for a permanent solution.

Mein and Chetia who visited flood affected areas of Namsai in Arunachal’s Lohit district on Monday said that the Arunachal and Assam Government would jointly take up with the North East Council (NEC) the issue of flood control measures at Noa Dihing and Padum Nallah in Lohit district which is posing a serious threat to both the States.

Chief Minister Nabam Tuki on Thursday urged the officials of National Hydro Power Corporation (NHPC) to amend the proposed policies for Recruitment, Resettlement and Rehabilitation(R&R) and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of its ongoing Power projects in Arunachal Pradesh. Of late, NHPC has been into troubled waters with resistance emanating from various cross sections of the society against its projects in the State. The ambitious Lower Subansiri and the Dibang Multi-Purpose projects are more or less stalled due to stiff resistance from the people.
