SEI Solar Power Pvt Ltd will raise around $34.3 from the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to support its proposed greenfield solar farm project in Rajasthan.

SEI Solar is a joint venture between Singapore-based SunEdison Energy and Astronergy Solar Korea Co Ltd The fund raising will help the company develop, construct, own and operate a 24 Mw greenfield solar PV power plant at Ugaras village in Jodhpur district.

JAIPUR: All encroachments in BSF Amanishah Nullah, a dry river bed zigzagging through the city, will have to go by May 2013. The Rajasthan high court set the six-month deadline on Wednesday, though the state government requested nine months for the 'unpopular task' that it will now have to complete in an election year.

In another significant move, the court issued notices to 10 colonisers/societies allegedly responsible for the encroachments in the nullah and asked them to explain why they should not be made to pay the compensation. At the same time, the government has been told to probe the roles of its officers who connived with these colonisers/societies in settling people there.

Seeks Time Frame On Amanishah

Jaipur: The “selective approach” of the state government in removing encroachments in the Amanishah Nullah made the Rajasthan high court see red on Monday with the bench asking, “Are we in a jungle raj in Rajasthan?” Pulling up the state for tardy governance, a division bench of Rajasthan HC asked chief secretary C K Mathew to file an affidavit by Wednesday on a time frame to remove the remaining encroachments.

Jaipur: A division bench of Rajasthan high court on Monday issued notices to the state and Central governments seeking their response to a PIL seeking to nullify the first-come-first-serve rule adopted for allotment of mining leases for precious minor minerals in the state.

The order came on a PIL filed by one Battulal Meena who challenged the rules framed under Rajasthan Minor Mineral Concession Rules, 1986. The PIL claims that the lease for extracting minor minerals like limestone, marble, granite etc, are being allotted under firstcome-first-serve basis while low quality and less priced mineral stones like chezza stone is being awarded through public auction which is highly arbitrary and whimsical.

Union Road Transport and Highways Minister C. P. Joshi on Sunday said the Centre would shortly sanction Rs.4,355 crore for construction of roads of the length of 1,302 km in Rajasthan after its recent decision for development of infrastructure through public-private partnership.

Dedicating three newly-built road underpasses at Vaishali Nagar here to the people, Mr. Joshi said 1,500-km-long roads to be added to the national highways would also be approved for the State, even as the construction of 1,243-km-long roads is in progress at a cost of Rs.10,720 crore.

Jaipur: Call it post-Diwali blues as number of people with respiratory problems queuing outside city hospitals saw a sharp rise over the last two days. The level of air pollution increased significantly during Diwali compared to previous year. At certain places, it was two times the figures recorded for 2011. According to the Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board (RSPCB) which measured the air quality at its monitoring stations, in almost every part of the city, except one place, the pollution level went up during the festival.

IAEA Officials Found Fault In The Fire-Door Function, Seek Inspection & Maintenance

Jaipur: The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which inspected the Rajasthan Atomic Power Station (RAPS) in Rawatbhata in Kota district, has suggested certain recommendations on safety matters. The international nuclear watchdog, however, appreciated the plant for initiating some fine practices.
This is the first time that any Indian nuclear installation has been inspected by IAEA.

Several “good practices” too at atomic plant, to be shared with global nuclear industry

The safety review of units 3 and 4 of the atomic power station at Rawatbhata in Rajasthan by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has ended with the inspection team identifying certain deficiencies in the operations of the units. The team has found problems in the maintenance of the fire doors and electrical cables and has flagged a need for improvements in certain aspects of the surveillance-testing programme and the system for root cause analyses.

Jaisalmer: The habitats of thousands of chinkaras, cobras, desert fox, cats and other beasts are likely to be severely affected if the proposed refinery is set up in Lelana area of Barmer, according to the forest department. The HPCL, which will set up the refinery, will be sending a special team to study the eco system of the area in December and prepare a report for the Centre.
