The matter related to sale of green firecrackers in West Bengal. Sabuj Mancha, the petitioner stated that no mechanism has been formulated either by the state of West Bengal or by the State Pollution Control Board for ensuring sale and bursting of green crackers only. This has resulted in severe noise and air pollution in the city and other parts of the state in previous years. He prayed for a a total ban on the sale of crackers in the state.

The NGT directed a committee to look into the matter of waterbody encroachment, Kolkata, adjacent to Science City.

The area falls within the buffer zone of the East Calcutta wetland. It is alleged that several temporary bamboo structures with wooden platforms in the form of mesh have been put up on the water-body where various social events and functions are organized and held regularly.

Counter affidavit on behalf of West Bengal Mineral Development & Trading Corporation Ltd & Others dated 16/08/2022. WBMDTCL was set up with the objectives of exploring and extracting various non-coal minerals - rock phosphate, stone aggregates, fire clay, quartz, feldspars, irone ore, silica sand in West Bengal.

The NGT (Eastern Zone Bench), Kolkata directed the District Magistrate, Purba Bardhaman, West Bengal to take all necessary steps for removal of encroachments from waterbodies in mouza Baidyadanga, under Memari-I block, Rasulpur, within one month. The area should be restored to its original form as waterbody and steps taken for removal of water hyacinths, the judgment of the NGT, July 01, 2022 said.

Tender has been floated by the West Bengal Mineral Development and Trading Corporation Limited (WBMDTCL) for dredging/desilting/removal of the river bed materials from the Subarnarekha river at Sankrail,Howrah district.
