Ahmedabad: Mercury in the city on Tuesday rose to 36 degrees Celsius, the highest temperature in August in the last eight years, on a day when the Met department had predicted light showers. The last it hit such a high was on August 2 in 2002, which was also during monsoons.
MUMBAI: A few days after cloud seeding experiments at Tansa and Modak Sagar brought some rainfall in the catchment areas, the BMC conducted a similar exercise at the same spots on Thursday. The two experiments carried out at Modak Sagar, however, did not bear fruit and resulted in only 5 mm to 10 mm of rainfall.

Met Department Says Rains Might Return Tomorrow
Ahmedabad: Monsoon has taken a break and there has been not a single spell of shower since July 27. However, there seems to be some good news in store as the monsoon is expected to revive by August 13. However, the rains this year have so far blessed only Saurashtra and Kutch which have already received more than its annual average rainfall.
