Rapid industrialisation over North India has taken its toll on climate. A study conducted at the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, says the northern part of the country has had a more rapid temperature change compared to the southern part.

Manipur has a deficit of 67 per cent, while Arunachal Pradesh, the least affected, is deficient by 29 per cent.

The Indian Meteorological Department has warned that heavy to very heavy rainfall will be witnessed in southwest Madhya Pradesh, north-central Maharashtra, north Konkan and south Rajasthan in the next 24 hours. At some places, the rainfall can be extremely heavy crossing the 25-cm mark.
