KOLKATA, 22 AUG: The flood situation in 15 districts of the state continued to remain grim with the death toll touching 50.

For transmitting the fruits of administration in an effective manner the West Bengal Government is planning to create at least six new districts in the State.

The Mamata Banerjee government has taken up a scheme to supply 70 litres of safe drinking water daily to each household in rural areas by 2020.

DURGAPUR, 6 FEB: Chinese mining experts, appointed by Jindal Steel for the purpose, started a survey for a coal mining project in the Sarpi-Ichapur area in Laudoha block about 12 km from Durgapur town. The coal deposits were located in January, 2011. A group of 31 Chinese coal mining experts headed by Mr U Lee were seen conducting land survey in the Ichapur-Sarpi area this morning.
