JAIPUR: Rajasthan will be the first state in the country where global positioning system (GPS) would be installed in around 1,000 buses of the state-owned Rajasthan State Roadways Corporation (RSRTC). The installation process would begin from Tuesday onwards. This system will not only enable the authorities to keep a track on the long-distance buses but will also facilitate them to put a check on things like theft of diesel which has been a big concern since it was rampant with the RSRTC buses.

The Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) will soon introduce a bus with a passenger capacity of 110, Transport minister R Ashoka said on Thursday. The new bus will be 14.5 mt in length as opposed to the existing city buses which are 12 mt in length. The new bus would hit the road within a month and the idea is to provide more space for passengers, Ashoka said.

60 new buses connecting metro stations every 15 minutes

Commuters in the satellite towns of Gurgaon and Faridabad have reason to rejoice with the Haryana Roadways agreeing to introduce feeder buses connecting these towns to major metro railway stations in the Capital. The service has become operational with close to 60 buses plying on routes connecting metro stations such as Badarpur, Tughlakabad, AIIMS, Kashmere Gate and HUDA City Centre every 15 minutes.
