Chandigarh: UT Administration replies to PIL seeking CNG, LPG be made mandatory for public vehicles

In response to a public interest litigation (PIL) seeking directions to make mandatory use of CNG or LPG for public vehicles in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh, the Chandigarh Administration has said that there is no vehicular or industrial pollution in the city.

Chandigarh: The increasing silt deposits in the Sukhna Lake have gradually led to a decrease in its area and water storage capacity over the years. In the last few years, not much of water has entered the lake through the catchment area, which is supposed to be a vital channel for water.

Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Punjab Parkash Singh Badal has sanctioned a corpus fund of Rs 5 crore from the rural development fund (RDF) for operating a freight subsidy of Rs 400 per tonne for marketing of potatoes within India and Rs 1,500 per tonne for export.

Chandigarh: The Municipal Corporation is all set to develop the open spaces in the villages and colonies of the city.

While development plans have been prepared for two villages, including Dadumajra and Maloya, the authorities believe there is not much scope for making changes in the existing infrastructure.

Markfed explores market for export

Markfed will facilitate export of 3,000 tonnes of potato to West Asia countries besides inter-state movement of two lakh tonnes to ease potato glut in the state and ensure remunerative price..

He said, the plan is to convert 20 percent of such societies into multi-purpose societies every year.

Chandigarh: Residents in the city may get a relief from water woes as Mayor Kamlesh is contemplating to provide regular water connections to all, including the slums and the colonies.

The proposal to develop a new system for providing water connections will also be mooted to facilitate the process of acquiring water connections.
