How do international and regional tools and services support disaster response in Asia-Pacific? Asia-Pacific is the world’s most disaster-prone region, so disaster management is a regional priority.

This study was commissioned to improve the understanding of the uptake of ecosystem-based adaptation (EbA) in South Africa, the processes through which EbA has been lead and governed, and how EbA has been integrated into national policy, strategy and implementation.

This report explores the links between disasters and conflict in Asia, with a view to supporting accelerated implementation of the Asia Regional Plan, Target E and the Sendai Framework. Just under half of all global disasters occurred in the Asia-Pacific region between 2000 and 2017.

The 2017 Unbreakable report made the case that disaster losses disproportionately affect poor people. The Caribbean hurricane season of 2017 was a tragic illustration of this. Two category 5 hurricanes wreaked destruction on numerous small islands, causing severe damages on islands like Barbuda, Dominica, and Saint Martin.
