Prime minister Shiekh Hasina has provisionally approved a draft memorandum of understanding with Russia on installation of a nuclear power plant, officials with knowledge of the matter said on Monday.

Nazmul Huda Khan, science and technology secretary, told bdnews24.com they expect an agreement to be signed later this month when a Russian minister is expected to visit Dhaka.

Gujranwala Electric Supply Company (Gepco) has constituted various teams for the awareness of consumers on energy saving and its advantages. Talking to newsmen, Gepco Chief Executive Gujranwala region Rana Muhammad Ashraf on Wednesday said the teams would apprise general public, especially the owners of CNG stations, petrol pumps and traders, of ways to save energy to ensure smooth power supply.
