Ahmedabad: The Gujarat Maritime Board (GMB) on Thursday sought further time from Gujarat High Court to submit its inspection report regarding fishermen's allegations on the Adanis that the Mundra Port Special Economic Zone (MPSEZ) has violated court's order by contunued to fill three creeks near Mundra. A division bench has granted GMB the time till Aug 29 to file its reply. Earlier, it was asked to file the report on Thursday and the hearing was kept on August 25.

Mumbai, August 21 The Bombay High Court on Thursday directed the high-powered committee, looking into the complaints pertaining to Slum Rehabilitation Authority schemes, to decide on the demolition of buildings in Bandra's Pereirawadi within six weeks, and asked the government to follow its stay order on demolition of structures.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice Swatanter Kumar and Justice A P Deshpande directed the panel to hear the case and give an order within six weeks.

In a landmark judgement, the Karnataka High Court on Thursday ordered a total ban on mining activities in forest areas.

Hearing a petition by MSPL Ltd, a Hospet-based mining firm, questioning the mining lease issued by the state government to a private company on March 15, 2003, Justice Shylendra Kumar quashed the lease. The Court observed that the State had neglected the Forest Conservation Act 1983 and Karnataka Forest Act 1963 while issuing the notification, and suggested nationalisation of mining activities.

Kolkata, July 30 : The state health department was directed to take steps within a week to stop the cooking of the patients' food in five big coal ovens in the SSKM hospital, according to an interim order of the Division Bench of Mr Justice Bhaskar Bhattacharya and Mr Justice RN Banerjee of Calcutta High Court today. The interim order was passed in the wake of an earlier court order on 28 September last year to prevent any pollution to Victoria Memorial Hall.
