BHUBANESWAR: The State Level Single Window Clearance Authority (SLSWCA) today approved 16 projects, including 10 new ones, with proposed investment of Rs 30,000 crore to keep the process of industrialisation rolling.

The projects once completed will generate employment to 47,000 people. Chief Secretary TK Mishra presided over the meeting of the committee.

South Korean steel giant Pohang Steel Company (Posco) has received the much-awaited Stage II forest diversion clearance from the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF) for its Rs 54,000-crore, 12-million tonne integrated steel project in Orissa.

South Korean steel major Posco has got the clearance from the ministry of environment and forests for acquiring forest land in Orissa for its $12 billion steel plant project, a company official said on Friday.

"We have received final forest clearance from the ministry," the Posco-India general manager (external relation), Mr Simanta Mohanty, said.

STEEL companies such as Ispat Industries, Essar and Rashtriya Ispat Nigam (RINL), may get access to captive iron ore mines for their steel making needs as government plans to give preferential raw material linkage to all existing steel making facilities that do not have captive source of their own.
