Pune, August 03 As part of its initiative to make cantonment areas greener, the Pune Cantonment Board (PCB) has organised a mass tree plantation drive on the premises of the Race Course. On August 5, a total of 3,000 saplings will be planted at various spots inside the Race Course premises.
"Students and staff from several schools and organisations respectively from the cantonment zone have been invited to participate in the project, which will be phase two of the board's tree plantation initiative," said S K Sardana, chief executive officer (CEO), PCB.

Mumbai, July 30 After 30 days of implementation of 15 per cent cut in the water supply timings in the city, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Wednesday withdrew its order saying that the water levels at catchments have improved.
The civic body said that considerable amount of recent rainfall in the catchment areas have raised the lake levels and there is no need to subject Mumbaiites to water cut.

Pune, July 30: A mild tremor was experienced in Pune and parts of Maharashtra with its epicentre at Koyna dam region in Satara district, the Met office said on Wednesday morning.

The tremor, felt past midnight at 12:40 am, lasted for around seven seconds and measured 4.2 on the Richter scale. According to sources at Koyna, there was no damage to the dam where a power generation plant of the state electricity distribution company Mahavitaran is located.

Mumbai, July 29 The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has alleged that the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has recently granted permission for construction in forest area, thereby disregarding the Bombay High Court's verdict declaring constructions in forest land illegal.
BJP leader in the BMC Bhalchandra Shirsat and corporator Manoj Kotak have now asked the civic administration to clarify whether the new permits are legal or residents staying here will once again be subjected to legal hassles.
