Order of the Madras High Court in W.P. Nos. 8132 of 2018 dated 06/04/2018 regarding irregularities and illegalities committed in the utilization of funds allocated under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, Perambalur District, Tamil Nadu. Madras High Court notes that on an average, about Rs.80,000/- is being sanctioned for each beneficiary and that the funds allocated for a particular village panchayat appear to be substantial. Accommodation is provided to village health nurses in sub centres

The State government has allotted more than Rs.4 crore for various infrastructural facilities in healthcare sector in Perambalur district. According to a release from Collector Darez Ahamed, the contribution of the village health nurses (VHNs) in health sector is indispensable. Apart from confirming pregnancy in women in their village, the VHNs render several services including registering patients’ names, providing various services before and after delivery, recording birth\death of children, providing treatment for minor diseases, vaccinating children and mothers, giving tablets for patients affected by tuberculosis, referring patients to primary health centres, recommending assistance to eligible pregnant women, and promoting institutional delivery.

Assembly committee reviews 50 petitions of 120 received

As many as 1,440 solar-powered houses have been constructed in the district under the Chief Minister’s Green House programme, P. Mohan, Chief Whip of the government, and the chairman of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Petitions Committee, said here on Wednesday. Talking to presspersons after inspecting various government programmes, he said these houses had come up at an estimate of Rs.25.92 crore.
