PERAMBALUR:The State government is giving priority to effective implementation of rural development schemes in Perambalur district and a sum of Rs.70 crore has been spent during 2009-10 for about 78,300 works through the District Rural Development Agency, said D. Napoleon, Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment.

TIRUCHI: The Forest Department will plant eight lakh saplings in private lands in various forest divisions falling within the Tiruchi Circle under the Tree Cultivation in Private Lands Scheme (TCPL) in the current financial year with a view to enhancing tree cover outside forest areas.

PERAMBALUR: Government is providing subsidy to farmers who are implementing rainwater harvesting system in their irrigation wells and recharging the groundwater table in Perambalur district, said M. Vijayakumar, Collector, here on Thursday.
