ANGUL: Coal transportation in Talcher coalfield area, which supplies coal to seven states, has been hampered due to lack of infrastructure facilities. Millions of tonnes of coal stocked at various colliery pit heads could not be evacuated due to poor and dilapidated roads, according to sources.

New Delhi: The Centre has prepared a plan to convert 6,376 km of single-lane national highways (NH) to twolanes involving an investment of over $3 billion (Rs 15,000 crore). The government is approaching the World Bank to finance this expansion, roads, transport and highways minister Kamal Nath said on Thursday.

BHUBANESWAR: Three World Bank-assisted infrastructure projects worth over Rs 400 crore have remained a non-starter even after a year of awarding of contracts due to lack of cooperation from the Government.

The World Bank sanctioned loan for widening and strengthening of three roads under the Orissa State Road Project. Tenders were invited for the three projects in January 2008.
