The residents of as many as 78 towns of Haryana have reasons to cheer, as the State Government is planning to put in place proper sewerage treatment plants for them in a phased manner. Irrigation Minister Captain Ajay Singh Yadav said the move is aimed at providing better civic amenities to the State's people.

PWD Minister Churchill Alemao on Sunday unveiled plans to boost availability of drinking water in Bardez and Salcete within the next 8-9 months.
Admitting that Bardez has been facing water disruptions due to leakages, Alemao said the PWD has sanctioned a 50 mld water treatment plant at Assonora and the same would take shape by June 2010.

Mr Zafarullah Khan, executive engineer (lakes department) with the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), says there are plans to set up 40-odd sewage treatment plants so that untreated sewage is not dumped in the lakes.

NEW DELHI: Union Minister of State for Environment and Forest Jairam Ramesh on Thursday criticised the Delhi Government for its failure to treat the sewage that has been flowing into the Yamuna and polluting the river.
