GANGTOK, Nov 12: A two-year-old Himalayan black bear was found dead at Dokeythang forest reserve in West Sikkim, forest officials said today. The carcass of the wild animal, a female, was detected by locals yesterday, who informed the forest authorities, the officials said.

The Government of Sikkim, farmers and other stakeholders of agriculture in the State came together yesterday to urge the Union Government to extend its fertiliser subsidy support to organic fertilisers, while implementing the newly proposed direct subsidy system.

They made the demand at a public consultation on the fertiliser subsidy reforms organised by Greenpeace India.
