Residents of Maramon, Kozhencherry, and surrounding areas are left to bear with the blaring noise from loudspeakers, installed in connection with various public programme and religious festivals. Many local people complained that organisers were using horn-shaped loudspeakers, banned by law, for church and temple festivals in the locality.

Twelve illegal dyeing units were demolished in a drive that was conducted by the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB) in and around Komarapalayam town in Tiruchengode Taluk on Thursday.

The drive was conducted at Thaneerpanthalkadu, Kotaimedu, Eswari Nagar, Cheran Nagar and Kamaraj Nagar. District Environmental Engineer (DEE) K. Gokuladas said that six winches, three generators and 76 masonry tanks were demolished using earth movers.
