Order of the Supreme Court of India in the matter of In Re: T N Godavarman Thirumulpad Vs Union of India & Others dated 24/02/2023.

The matter related to permission for e-rickshaws to ply in the city of Matheran and laying down of concrete paver blocks on the roads in Matheran.

The SC directed a Monitoring Committee to decide on whether to permit e-rickshaws and the laying down of paver blocks in the city of Matheran, an eco sensitive zone.

The SC said that laying down of paver blocks would destroy the natural beauty of the city.

Order of the Supreme Court of India in the matter of Dr. Balram Singh Vs Union of India & Others dated 22/02/2023.

The matter related to the implementation of the Employment of Manual Scavengers and Construction of Dry Latrines (Prohibition) Act, 1993 and the Prohibition of Employment as Manual Scavengers and Their Rehabilitation Act, 2013.

Order of the Supreme Court of India in the matter of The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board Vs B Prathap Reddy & Others dated 21/02/2023. Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) has deposited Rs.10,00,00,000 (rupees ten crores) on December, 12, 2022. Rs. 5,00,00,000 (rupees five crores) will be deposited on or before March 31, 2023.

Order of the Supreme Court of India in the matter of Rajneesh Kumar Pandey & Others Vs Union of India & Others dated 14/02/2023.

The Supreme Court directed the states to file reports on the number of children with special needs, the number of special teachers enrolled and the number and status of vacancies. The states were also asked to inform when they propose to fill up the vacancies and meet with the requirement of the SC orders dated October 28, 2021 and May 2, 2022.

Judgment of the Supreme Court of India in the matter of Association of Vasanth Apartment's Owners Vs V Gopinath & Others dated 13/02/2023.

The matter is related to 'open space regulation area' (OSR) in developed plots. Justice K M Joseph and Justice Pamidighantam Sri Narasimha said that the areas covered by the OSR cannot be diverted for any other purpose.

Order of the Supreme Court of India in the matter of Municipal Corporation, Ghaziabad Vs Central Pollution Control Board & Others dated 06/02/2023.

The Supreme Court directed Ghaziabad Development Authority to make payment of Rs. 1,04,20,000 for disposal of legacy waste dumped from the period October 21, 2020 to March 31, 2022. The amount, if not already paid has to be paid by the GDA to the Municipal Corporation, Ghaziabad within a period of one month.

Order of the Supreme Court of India in the matter of S Rajaseekaran Vs Union of India & Others dated 06/02/2023.

The matter is related to road safety and prevention of accidents. In response to the SC order of January 6, 2023 a meeting was convened by Justice A M Sapre, Chairperson of the Supreme Court Committee on Road Safety. The Committee has drawn up a road map for taking steps for the implementation of Section 136A of the Motor Vehicles Act 1988.

Judgment of the Supreme Court of India in the matter of K T V Health Food Pvt Ltd. Vs Union of India & Others dated 01/02/2023.

The Supreme Court upheld the decision of the National Green Tribunal, Southern Zone which set aside the ex post facto clearance granted by the Union government to K T V Health Food and KTV Oil Mills (one of the largest edible oil companies in South India) for its edible oil storage and transit terminal. 

Order of the Supreme Court of India in the matter of 'In Re Problems and Miseries of Migrant Labourers' dated 31/01/2023.

The SC was informed that out of the estimated 38.37 crores  migrants to be registered on  e-Shram portal - a total of 28.55 crores migrants are already registered. Further, those 28.55 crore migrants who are already registered on the e-Shram portal would be entitled to the schemes floated by the Central Government and concerned state governments and also under National Food Security Act.
