Replying to query of a mediaperson about the reason for his presence in Uttarakhand, Tarun Vijay said,

Hyderabad, May 16: As several lift irrigation projects are nearing completion, the irrigation department wants to have a comprehensive plan for developing hydro electric plants on these projects. The irrigation secretary, Mr Adityanath Das, wrote to the Uttarakhand government asking them to forward the hydro electric policy that is under implementation there to AP.

Drinking water scarcity in the region seems to have created a drought like situation. The matter of fact is that as many as 73 areas including 22 urban cities, 31 villages and 20 other colonies in five districts of Kumaon division are reeling under severe water crisis , while as part of contingency measures the concerned department has only 38 tankers to supply water to these affected areas.

Around 500 trees of different species were destroyed after anti-social elements allegedly set a fire in the Maladidhar Van Panchayat area near Mandalsera village here. The villagers along with others worked together to control the fire and succeeding in it after four hours of toiling.

Despite renewed controversy over the self-identified hydel projects, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank said the final allotment would be done shortly.

A survey was made on certified organic farms in the country to ascertain the real benefits and feasibility of organic farming in terms of the production potential, economics and soil health in comparison to the conventional farms.
