Vijayawada, Sept. 22: While farmers producing paddy, cotton and pulses are struggling due to the dry spell, fish farmers are now severely affected due to the sudden fall in temperature in the day. Fish worth Rs 5 crore perished in the Gudivada revenue division during the last two days due to dissolution of oxygen and sudden increase of toxic gases in fish tanks.
Aug. 25: The mythological Kalpavriksha, known as Baobab tree, may face extinction in the state because of the extension of NH-9 from Hyderabad to Vijayawada.
According to botanists, there are only eight such trees in the state mostly distributed in Krishna district along the highway. All the trees are several hundreds of years old.
Hyderabad, May 15: The APSRTC has decided to introduce 1,500 low floor buses in Hyderabad, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam.
The low floor buses are safer since they have no steps, have large sliding windows, handle bars, pneumatic doors and more space for standing passengers. They are expected to improve accessibility and prevent mishaps.

Vijayawada, Nov. 12: The Krishna district administration is geared up to crack a whip on indiscriminate aqua farming. The district collector, Mr N. Sridhar, issued orders to check the illegal fish tanks which are flouting norms of Coastal Aqua Culture Authority Act 2005. Under the Act, every farmer should register his land which is under aqua cultivation and has to pay a nominal fee.
