KOCHI: The failure to implement projects formulated to manage domestic waste at its place of origin has led to the current waste management crisis in the city, former Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary P C Cyriac said here on Saturday.

LUCKNOW: The site for the proposed municipal solid waste management (MSW) project would undergo yet another environmental scrutiny on June 14, when the state environment directorate would look into objections pertaining to environmental threat from the project.

Local bodies are taking an independent decision on basic facilities like drinking water, streetlights, cleanliness and road. Hence, the burden of government is lessened, said Home Minister Dr V S Acahrya.

Ludhiana: Plastic bags, which have been banned by the majority of states in the country, will now be used by the Punjab Government in the construction of roads. With their usage, roads will not only present a brighter look, but will be more strengthened. While using plastic bags in bitumen, the state government will save approximately Rs 2 lakh per km on road construction.
