The State wise details of funds allocated, released and utilized under the scheme Project Elephant during last three years is given in Annexure I. The death of elephant due to various reasons like train accident, electrocution, poaching and poisoning during the last three years, State-wise, is given in Annexure II, III, IV and V respectively. The detail of human deaths due to human-elephant conflict during the last three years, State-wise, is given in Annexure VI.

The Animal Welfare Division of this Ministry does not maintain details regarding rate of decrease in the population of animals and increasing rate of human-animal clash, especially attacks on human beings by elephants, stray dogs and monkeys, etc. Management of wildlife (Elephant, Monkeys) is the responsibility of the concerned State/UT Governments. However, Project Elephant Division, MoEF&CC has compiled the details regarding the deaths of human beings by elephant attack are given in Annexure.
