As per Load Generation Balance Report (LGBR) of 2016-17, 14 States and 3 Union Territories are expected to have surplus electricity in the year 2016-17. Question raised in Rajya Sabha on Development of sewage system, 08/08/2016. The NGRBA programme along with work of Ganga & its tributaries is with Ministry of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation (MoWR,RD&GR) from 01/08/2014 onwards. The programmes of NRCP & NGRBA (till 31/07/2014) have covered polluted stretches of 43 rivers in 200 towns spread over 21 States, at a sanctioned cost of Rs. 12202.59 crore so far. Sewage treatment capacity of 5169 mld has been created so far under these two programmes.

Question raised in Rajya Sabha on Loss to Farmers Due to Climate Change, 05/08/2016. Agricultural land has been affected due to low rainfall in the country during last year. Eleven States, i.e. Karnataka (both for Kharif and Rabi), Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra (both for Kharif and Rabi), Odisha, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh (both for Kharif and Rabi), Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, Rajasthan and Uttarakhand (rabi) submitted Memoranda reporting crop loss due to natural calamities like drought, hailstorm, pest attack & coldwave/ frost.

Question raised in Lok Sabha on Fluoride in Water, 05/08/2016. Several districts in the country have Fluoride in excess of the permissible limit in drinking water, leading to condition known as Fluorosis (Dental, Skeletal and Non-Skeletal Fluorosis). As per Integrated Management Information System (IMIS) of Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation as on date, there are about 13,907 habitations in various States with high Fluoride content in the drinking water. About 114.6 lakh persons living in these areas are at risk of Fluorosis.

Question raised in Lok Sabha on Chronic Diseases, 05/08/2016. As per disease burden study on Non-Communicable Diseases published by Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) in 2004, the estimated cases of Ischemic Heart Disease (IHD) in India was 224 lakh and prevalence of IHD was 37.0 cases per thousand. As per the International Diabetes Federation (IDF), the estimated cases of diabetes in India in the age group of 20-70 years are 65.0 million, 66.8 million and 69.1 million respectively in 2013, 2014 & 2015.

Question raised in Lok Sabha on Hydro Power Project, 04/08/2016. As per reassessment study conducted by Central Electricity Authority, India has a total hydro potential of 1,45,320 MW (above 25 MW). Projects with 38062 MW are in operation while HE Schemes with an aggregate capacity of 12357 MW are under construction. However, a total hydro potential of about 94900 MW still remains to be tapped in the country, which is about 65% of the total hydro power potential. State-wise details of the estimated hydro power potential yet to be tapped in the country is given at Annex.

Question raised in Lok Sabha on Energy Efficiency, 04/08/2016. Government has specified norms and standards for reduction in specific energy consumption (SEC) for energy intensive sectors. In cycle-I (2012-13 to 2014-15) of Perform, Achieve and Trade (PAT) scheme, 478 industries of eight sectors were given targets to reduce their SEC. The cumulative target for energy saving for the cycle-I was 6.68 Million Tonnes of Oil Equivalent (MTOE) to be achieved by the end of 2014-15, against which energy saving of 8.67 MTOE have been achieved which is about 30% more than the target.
