Uttarakhand witnessed a devastating natural disaster during 15 to 17 June 2013 in the form of cloud bursts and heavy to very heavy rainfall in most parts of the higher reaches of Himalayas. This unprecedented rainfall resulted in flash floods and landslides at various locations and caused widespread damage to life and property.

This Report of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) on the accounts of the Union Government analyses the Finance and Appropriation Accounts of Government of India (GoI) for the year 2017-18.

NEW DELHI: The National Green Tribunal has directed the Railways to identify and develop at least 36 stations as "eco-smart stations" within two weeks.

This Report comprises of three Chapters. The first Chapter contains the financial profile of the State, planning and conduct of audit and follow-up on Audit Reports.

While rural Uttarakhand had been declared as Open Defecation Free (ODF) in June 2017, a report of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) that was tabled in the Uttarakhand assembly stated that the declaration of the state as ODF was “incorrect”.

A year after the Gujarat government declared that the state has become open defecation-free (ODF), the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) in its latest report has dismissed the claim, saying “it does not appear to be correct”.

Gujarat has been battling child and maternal malnutrition for several years.

The Government of India launched the National Rural Drinking Water Programme (NRDWP) in April 2009 by modifying the Accelerated Rural Water Supply Programme (ARWSP) and subsuming earlier sub-mission/schemes. A performance audit of the NRDWP was conducted to assess how far the objectives of the Programme were achieved.
