Daram Govinda Rajan resident of Chataparru, Eluru mandal, Eluru district, Andhra Pradesh filed an application before the National Green Tribunal (NGT) regarding massive illegal encroachments by construction of ponds leading to ecological destruction in Kolleru lake which is one of the prominent lakes in Eluru and Krishna districts of Andhra Pradesh.

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) directed the state of Andhra Pradesh to file a status report on waste management in Andhra Pradesh as on March 31, 2023 by April 15, 2023.

The matter related to illegal sand mining in village Pachayarha Khand, district Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh by one Mumtaz Ali up to the depth of 15-20 feet in the river bed of river Yamuna in violation of environmental norms.

Grievance raised by the applicants is that there is illegal extraction of ground water by the builders operating in Noida According to the applicants, the authorities have failed to prevent illegal extraction of ground water for commercial purposes resulting in depletion of ground water level in the area identified as ‘overexploited’ as per assessment of the Central Ground Water Authority (CGWA).
