Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Goa Paryavaran Savrakshan Sangharsh Samitee Vs M/s Sesa Goa Ltd Ors dated 11/10/2013. NGT has directed that no new lease, shall be granted for any mine, which falls within eco sensitive zone or protected Forest or sanctuary, within territory of Goa. NGT also directs that concerned mine-owners, be not allowed to remove dumps and if there is any hazardous waste material, then the Government shall take care of removal of the hazardous waste, according to Hazardous Waste Management Rules.(HWMR).

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has sought responses from the Centre and the Uttar Pradesh and Haryana governments on a plea alleging that illegal sand mining is still going on in some districts of the two states.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Ram Babu Vs. Union of India & Ors. dated 10/10/2013 regarding mining in Districts Jhansi and Jalaun. This order of NGT direct and prohibit any mining activity being carried out in Districts Jhansi and Jalaun without seeking appropriate permission of the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF)/State Level Environment Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA), as the case may be,

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Jagannath Mane Vs. Union of India & Ors dated 10/10/2013 regarding renewal of the mining lease. NGT also stated that the respondent project proponents to whom
the contracts and mining leases have been awarded by the State shall not carry out any mining activity without having obtained the Environmental Clearance from the competent authority in accordance with law.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Sunita Devi Kol Vs. Union of India & Others dated 10/10/2013 regarding licence to carry on mining in Khasra No. 822/1B/2/K Rakwa 2.5 acres, Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, which was categorised for forest and also meant for the purpose of villagers.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Suraj Prasad Pandey Vs Union of India & Others dated 10/10/2013 regarding a land in dispute (Khasra No. 85 and its new No. 114 in village Kamta
District Panna, Madhya Pradesh) which was classified as ‘Talaiya’. It appears that subsequently the classification came to be altered and even the area of the ‘Talaiya’ was reduced and the classification of the land was altered from ‘Talaiya’ to ‘Banjar’.

The Bombay high court on Wednesday said it would hear all the Lavasa matters and see the facts of the case before deciding on transferring them to the National Green Tribunal.
