80% local manpower, 15 Enggs from Jammu engaged
JAMMU: In a major step aimed at providing safest road link in the landslides prone areas of the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway 1A, the work on first section of the country’s longest road tunnel between Chenani and Nashri was started today.

JAMMU: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla has said that Government has sanctioned Rs. 10 crore for immediate restoration of damages caused due to flash floods and incessant rains in Jammu division.

Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla on Wednesday laid foundation of deep drill 438900 gallon per day discharge capacity tube well at Sector No. 14 in Nanak Nagar area, coming up at an estimated cost of Rs. 1.20 crore under Water Supply Scheme Nanak Nagar.

JAMMU: To review the status of feasibility reports of various hydro power projects under investigation in Jammu province, the Minister for Higher Education, Abdul Gani Malik today convened a meeting of officers from Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Corporation at Civil Secretariat here this morning.

Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla today said the Revenue Department has sent a proposal to the Planning Department for providing Rs. 3 crore each to the flood hit victims of Jammu and Srinagar under National Calamity Relief Fund (NCRF).

Interacting with the locals, Mr. Bhalla said that the coalition Government was committed to provide all basic amenities to the people of the State at their doorsteps, adding that various development projects have been initiated in the State to facilitate the public.

Omar Abdullah said the economy and development of the rural, far-flung and remote areas is directly dependent on good road communication. "While the State Government is focusing on improvement, upgradation and construction of highways and roads across the State, the PMGSY is the flagship programme to link up cut-off areas with main roads", he said and highlighted the importance of the programme in this regard.

JAMMU: The Deputy Chairman, Legislative Council, Arvinder Singh Micky today toured the areas of Jammu which suffered damages due to recent flash floods triggered by heavy rains .

SRINAGAR: Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah on Tuesday flagged the importance of National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) terming it a core programme to universalize health care facilities for women and children.
