A Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) monitoring team caught three tankers carrying a hazardous chemical — Spent Acid — for illegal disposal near Gujcomasol on Vatva-Narol road. Even after strict directions from GPCB to not dispose more than 3,000MGL of the chemical without treatment, many units in Vatva seem to continue disposing of H acid, vinyl sulfone, NMJ acid, FC acid, MPDSA, D.A.S.A, D.A.S.D.A effluents in volumes of 25,000 to 50,000 MGL into drainage system and rivers without processing.
