The survey is required to prepare a report on decommissioning the dam and submit it to the Empowered Committee appointed by the Supreme Court on the dam.
The team reached Kumily on Wednesday morning with equipment to survey the baby dam and the spillway area. But the department said its permission had not been sought and hence the survey could not be conducted.

Agency to seek detailed project report on proposed plant

The State Cabinet approved on Wednesday a draft policy on land acquisition and released it for public discussion.
The policy provides for shares to evictees in selected projects, construction of marketing complex for rehabilitation of evicted shopkeepers, and provision of land for rehabilitation. The policy envisages issue of redeemable infrastructure bonds to evictees against the value of land at the choice of the evictees in lieu of compensation.

Transport Minister V.S. Sivakumar has said that 1,000 new buses will be purchased to resolve the transportation problems of the State.
Out of this, 500 buses will be deployed shortly, Mr. Sivakumar said. He was talking after flagging off the first of the three KSRTC buses allotted in the Thuthiyoor-Kakkanad route on Tuesday.
