Judgement of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Society for Preservation of Kasauli and its Environs (SPOKE) Vs Barog Heights Hotel dated 07/12/2017 regarding private buildings existing which are having more than 3 or 4 storeys and are running hotel business in Kasauli, Himachal Pradesh.

National Green Tribunal passes the following directions:

1. Hotel Barog Heights shall demolish the structure which is unauthorised and in exercise to the provisions of Himachal Pradesh Town & Country Planning Act, 1977.

Order of the National Green Tribunal (Southern Zone Bench, Chennai) in the matter of M.Gobineelan Vs Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board & Others dated 30/10/2017 regarding illegal dumping and burning of garbage in Sirumugai, Coimbatore by Sirumugai Town Panchayat. NGT Southern Bench directs that the Sirumugai Panchayat shall obtain necessary “authorisation” from the appropriate authorities within three months and shall remove all the Solid Waste dumped in the S.F.No.148/2 and 189/2 and shall not dump the solid waste in open space or burn solid waste.

Order of the National Green Tribunal (Eastern Zone Bench, Kolkata) in the matter of Ambar Nath Sengupta Vs State of West Bengal & Others dated 06/10/2017 regarding pollution of river Hooghly after immersion of idols during various Puja festivals. Further direction has been sought for against the WBSPCB to constitute a committee to conduct a scientific study to assess the impact of Plaster of Paris (in short, PoP), a powder used for making idols, on its potential to cause pollution of water and to suggest remedies therefor.
