Muktsar: With the Irrigation Department stopping water supply to Arniwala minor without any prior announcement, a large number of paddy growers in the district are in trouble.

JAIPUR: Farmers have been sitting on a demonstration since May 10 to protest against the alleged theft of water from canal flowing from Haryana and Punjab to Sriganganagar and Hanumangarah districts in Rajasthan.

They alleged that theft of water from the canals had affected their agriculture activities badly. "We are not getting the amount of water from the canals which we should get because the farmers in Punjab and Haryana are taking the water from the canals illegally through big water pumps," Krishan Kumar Saharan, state president Rajasthan Kisan Union said.
