Huge funds of Rs 56 billion have been earmarked for disbursement as compensation among the victims of the under-construction gigantic project of raising the country second biggest Mangla dam.

At a mahapanchayat held in Ronija village, farmers from about 30 villages have served one-week notice to Yamuna Expressway Authority on their seven-point demands. The farmers said if their demands were not met within a week, they would not allow the construction work on Yamuna Expressway to proceed.

Chandigarh: In a rally held at Khuda Alisher village today, the farmers of the region demanded that they be allowed to set up Special Economic Zones (SEZs) of non-polluting and IT-enabled industries in the villages. Various other resolutions were also passed during the rally.
