The Jim Corbett National Park, flaunting the most dense tiger population in the country, is all set to show the way towards protection of India

Following the suggestion of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Union Environment and Forests Minister Jairam Ramesh, the Uttarakhand Government has decided to constitute a Jim Corbett Tiger Trust headed by Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank and other 15-20 members.

NEW DELHI: The government has granted Rs. 25 crore for relocating 181 Gujjar families from the core regions of the Corbett Tiger Reserve.

To avoid conflicts

Over a period of time, a total of 400 families would be relocated to avoid man-animal conflicts in the reserve, a release by the Ministry of Environment and Forests said.

Nainital (Uttarakhand): An elephant census is being undertaken at the famous Corbett National Park in Uttarakhand after three years.

A total of 150 trained field staff in 62 groups are involved in the three-day exercise which started on Tuesday, officials said.

The last census was in 2007 which put their number at 622.
