Nali Kali programme has been successfully implemented in the district, said Public Education Department Deputy Director Prahalad Gowda.

He was speaking at the interaction programme organised for the district level resource persons, here recently.

The learning levels of the children in all the 1,722 nalikali schools in the district is satisfactory, he said.

BHUBANESWAR: The 13th Finance Commission (TFC) has recommended a grant of Rs 78,974.9 crore for the State for the award period from 2010 to 2015. The grant has increased substantially compared to the 12th Finance Commission, which recommended Rs 36,942.8 crore for Orissa.

HRD ministry and states can be happy as 13th Finance Commission has been the most generous for elementary education, allocating Rs 24,068 crore for Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan to all the states for the next five years. It has also fully accepted the demand for grants made by the HRD ministry.

A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting presided over by Women and Child Development Minister Pramila Mallik at the Secretariat here today. Children in the age group of three to five are accommodated in the anganwadi centres.
