The Andhra Pradesh Government has asked the industry to come out with specific suggestions as it evolves a food processing policy for the year 2010-11.

Mumbai: With the global economy beginning to perk-up, India's food processing industry is expected to benefit from this and grow to around $260-billion from the present USD 200-billion in the next 6-years, an industry expert said.

Horticulture Minister Narender Bragta yesterday requested the Centre to formulate a separate policy for food processing industry for hill states of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Jammu and Kashmir, keeping in view typical and uniform geographical and topographical conditions of these states.
