7-Foot-Deep Pit Filled In Two Days Ago Subsides Again
New Delhi: Even as the government is yet to ascertain the exact cause for the cave-in on the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridor in Defence Colony on Sunday, the filledup pit reportedly settled by another one centimetre on Monday, sending alarm bells ringing.
NEW DELHI: A portion of the road next to the busy Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridor caved in at Defence Colony here in the early hours of Sunday injuring two motorcyclists who fell into the deep pit.
The mishap took place around 2-30 a.m. when a segment of the road subsided near a petrol pump in Defence Colony as the earth below it had apparently turned soft due to water seepage.
There's another round of dilemma and decisions for the expansion of the BRT corridor. While the trial run of the Moolchand to Delhi Gate stretch is yet to begin, deliberations are on as to which pattern should be followed for the proposed BRT corridors between Karawal Nagar to Games Village (now proposed till T-point Nizamuddin) (10.5 km) and Moolchand to Jehangirpuri (27.5 km).
MUMBAI: Commuters who were looking forward to the Bus Rapid Transit System(BRTS) slated to start operating on the two main highways in the city, will have to wait for eight to 10 more months till the flyovers over the two roads are ready.
AHMEDABAD: As the day to launch BRTS draws closer, a series of trial runs of the buses on the corridor have revealed several glitches. This includes mixed traffic behaviour, that may pose a problem during regular runs of the buses.

KOCHI: Kochiites will soon have the comfort of travelling in the state-of-the-art Volvo buses as the Corporation is to acquire 15 new air-conditioned low-floor buses under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM)-funded City Public Transportation project.
The BRT track from Moolchand Hospital to Delhi Gate is likely to be started in September. This was decided at high level meeting of Delhi government officers, said sources.
At present, the BRT is only being used from Ambedkar Nagar to Moolchand. This has been criticised by the media and commuters. This is the first BRT in Delhi.
