Hyderabad, June 7 The Andhra Pradesh Government has urged the Central Government to accord early clearance for several of its pending irrigation and power projects.

The officially appointed Environmental Expert Committee under the Chairmanship of Dr. Devendra Pandey, Director, Forest Survey of India to review the studies, planning and implementation of environmental safeguards for Sardar Sarovar and Indira Sagar Projects has submitted its Interim Report to the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF).

The power generation capacity in the state has risen by 2937 megawatts during the last four years. With an extension unit of Amarkantak thermal power plant becoming critical soon, 210 MW more is going to be added to this capacity.
