The Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission adopted a reform-linked funding approach, the culmination of two decades of active debate and experimentation in the urban development sector. Yet, progress of both fund utilisation and reforms under the programme has been tardy.

Vijayawada, July 6: The Union minister for urban development, Mr S. Jaipal Reddy, said on Tuesday that the Central government would continue sanctioning grants for the development of infrastructure in Vijayawada city under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) phase II.
