BANGALORE: Minister for Home V.S. Acharya on Wednesday said Karnataka had released only excess water from the Krishnaraja Sagar (KRS) to Tamil Nadu.

He told presspersons here that authorities had released excess water into the Cauvery as they could not impound water beyond 123 ft as the full reservoir level was 124 ft.

CHENNAI: The Union government has called a meeting of the Cauvery basin States here on Monday to thrash out differences between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka over the 1,150-megawatt Cauvery Hydro Power Project (CHPP).

Aug. 10: The state government on Monday differed with the Union law minister, Mr Veerappa Moily, and asserted that Karnataka had constructed illegal irrigation projects across the Krishna River even as the Opposition criticised him.
On a visit to the city on Sunday, Mr Moily had said that projects constructed by Karnataka cannot be termed illegal and parried further questions on the subject.
