Surat: Potato is the most commonly consumed vegetable in the world. The same potato if grown on creepers and not under the soil can work wonders. This variety of potato has a high content of natural steroid which when extracted and used as a medicine would work as an oral male contraceptive.

Phytochemical investigation of plant barks, showed the presence tannins, saponins, flavonoids, steroids, terpenoids and cardiac glycosides.

The State government today approved a new strategy to promote the plantation and processing of medicinal and aromatic plants in the state.

On a global scale, the existing Sacred Groves (SGs) follow ancestral worship on conservation in forest patches. SGs are distributed over a wide ecosystem and help in conservation of rare and endemic species. Well preserved SGs are store houses of biological, ecological, medicinal, ethno-cultural and religious values.
