SURAT: Owners of a water park were penalized for cutting down 70 trees in Damka village of Choryasi taluka, about 24 km from Surat city.

The effects of various parameters such as initial metal concentration, particle size, pH and contact time for the adsorption of Cu (II) on BEAC, AAC, CAC and BNAC were investigated. The amount of adsorbent increased the percentage of metal removal increased accordingly. The optimum pH for the Cu (II) absorption was 7.0 except BEAC. The equilibrium data fit well with both Langmuir and Freundlich models of adsorption.

Surkhet, July 28: Around 12,000 saplings of different species have been planted at Deutibajyai Community Forest at Latikoili VDC in Surkhet district.

Concerned over rising temperature in the city, the environment wing of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) will change in its approach to plantation.

Instead of planting decorative and fast-growing trees, the BMC will gor for shady trees from the coming monsoon to create a green canopy on city roads, official sources said. The BMC has selected two species of trees for the plantation drive. About 1,500 such trees would be planted on the vacant patches in different wards as well as medians.

To eradicate dengue, a multi-pronged campaign was launched on Tuesday across six Indian cities with public-private partnership.
