GURGAON: HUDA is now wooing more private builders to connect their sewage treatment plants (STP) to its main sewerage line. The tie-ups between HUDA and builders will go a long way in reducing the perennial problem of sewage disposal.

The DLF is the first private builder which has applied for connecting its STP with HUDA's main sewerage line.

Looking to rein in polluters, the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) will soon prohibit industries, offices and residences under its jurisdiction from disposing sewerage water at non-designated places.

Authorities said the move is meant to stop the present practice of sewerage water and other effluents being dumped in green belts and roads across the city.

After checking and ensuring its norms and parameters, Noida Authority officials formally started its operations.

In March 2009, the Noida authority started the work on building the 27 million litre/day (MLD) capacity STP in Sector 54. Earlier, it was to start functioning on March 2011.
