Uttar Pradesh's first sewage treatment plant (STP) has started functioning in Noida.
After checking and ensuring its norms and parameters, Noida Authority officials formally started its operations.

In March 2009, the Noida authority started the work on building the 27 million litre/day (MLD) capacity STP in Sector 54. Earlier, it was to start functioning on March 2011.

KOCHI: In order to strengthen the sewerage system of the city, the Kochi Corporation is planning to set up a new sewerage treatment plant at Brahmapuram. The new plant, according to a top Corporation official, will solve the issue of unscientific disposal of septic waste which causes serious health and environmental hazards.

Under the project, besides targetting 24-hour water supply in town, municipal corporation will entrust the job of revenue collections to private promoters

The Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority is going to set up boundary wall around the Pagla Sewage Treatment Plant to stop illegal fish farming in the toxic lagoons, senior officials said.

Like almost every year, the authorities also carried out a drive this year in May to kill the fishes reared illegally in 16 lagoons of the sewage treatment plant by locally influential people, they added.

In an ambitious project to find a solution to the untreated waste flowing in the rivers of the state, the Punjab Pollution Control Board has decided to initiate a project under which the sullied water will be treated and recycled for irrigation.

The project is being drawn in association with the Irrigation Department.
